ITANAGAR, Oct 17: Science and technology are major driving forces to develop any society, Governor (Retd) B.D. Mishra said in his inaugural address to two-day state level workshop for Govt. elementary school teachers under Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA) here on Thursday.
RAA aims to encourage young minds towards scientific understanding and innovation; he said and exhorted the students and teachers to cultivate the spirit progressive learning.
Teachers and students of 100 selected schools under Samagra Shiksha of RAA under are attending the event who will be given science and mathematics kits and low cost solar based e-learning equipments. The workshop is beingm organised by education department in collaboration with unit of science and educational development (UNISED).
Quoting fundamental Duties enshrined in the Constitution, he said that it is important that every citizen “develops scientific temper, humanism and the spirit of inquiry and reform”, adding the RAA should be a trailblazer for creating scientific temper amongst the citizens, particularly the students.
The RAA will reset mindset of youth from ‘job seeking’ to ‘Startup’ attitude to solve many problems of the people, create jobs opportunities to minimise unemployment for which it should be taken up under PPP mode.
Education Minister Taba Tedir, Secretary-cum-Samagra Shiksha state project director Niharika Rai, UNISED programme director Javed Ali Khan, among others, were present. (PRO)
